Something else

G'day mates!

Here I am again, have been somewhere with no reception a few days but now, at this very moment, we are back in Mission Beach. I will try to catch up a bit so lets get started.

I want to show you what the Australian Government and of course councils all do for their residents.

For this we stay in Cairns for the moment and I have made some pictures from a lot leisure facilities for the people. Everything you see is free but of course it has to be paid from something so people pay rates and once a year a certain amount is added to their water (or gas, I don’t know anymore) bill for park maintenance at least that was when we lived in Berwick, I don’t know if this counts for every State.

Come and have a look;

Skateboarding.......

Kids playgrounds.......

Walking and cycling paths.......

Information boards......

Exercise/Fitness stations.....

It's much better here then in a smelly, expensive Gym......

Beach Volley......

and after all these activities you need some water don't you??

I'm still not finished yet;

Electric barbecues with picnic tables.....

Music..........

Again some more exercise in which you can participate....

just some lovely spots to sit and relax....

minding your own business and taking in the view....

Information boards about fish and their habitat......

Stands for fishing rods and a table with water to clean your catch.....

Ok, ok, this has nothing to do with the facilities, but a nice view is important too!!

And then, I nearly forgot the public toilets which are everywhere, clean, always toilet paper and water to wash you hands.

I maybe complained a few times that Australia is getting so expensive but this is the other side of the medal, if you see these free leisure facilities, that's great isn't it, and mind you; it's not only in Cairns, it's all over Australia!

See you soon, it won't be too long!

Cheers!

    Groeten Wicher

  2. We travelled two months in Aussie and we saw these facilities. Here (in the Netherlands) we seldom can find a public toilet and if we do most of the time it is very dirty and you have to pay too much money!

    Hi Fred and Tammy, it's long time ago you find some words on your great blog but we haven't forgotten you!
