Winter in Perth, horse riding

G’day Mates,

I’m so sorry to let you wait so long for a new story but as you know we are in the goldfields and as long as we are here I hardly have any time for something else than looking for gold. The fever you know!! Today we moved to another place and the wind is soo strong, you can’t be outside so, here I am.

Before I surprise you with the goldfields story, and I can tell you that will be very exciting, I still have to finish our time in Perth, there are 2 stories still to come and this is the first one.

I just want to show some nice spots in Perth;

A part of Elizabeth Quay

A beautiful garden behind the Government House...

Contrasts ....

St. George's Cathedral.....

The Church was beautiful, not only outside but also inside....

I forgot, sorry....

Winter in Perth, can you imagine a winter in Perth. When you think about Western Australia, you think; “always hot” but that’s not reality, it can be terrible cold, not as cold as The Netherlands can be but still…

In Australia some people even celebrate Christmas in July. I don’t know about the Northern part, but here in Perth and I also know in Victoria they do!

The council does a lot to give the people a real winter feeling....

Movie time;

I also have been riding a horse, somewhere in the Perth Hills, it was fantastic.....

Movie time;

It was a lovely ride with great views over Perth.....

This was a short one, next will be longer; Fremantle, our favourite !!

Till then!

Cheers!

Continuing story of Bertram; variety of things

G'day Mates,

In the mean time we have left Perth and it was hard. Anyhow we are now in the Goldfields and it is pouring with rain. We had a very scary night with severe thunderstorms and even our satellite dish collapsed and landed in a big pool of water.

Of course the stories of this adventure will be coming soon, first....... back to Bertram;

Aah, we have done so many things during our house sitting in Bertram. Besides the nice beach walks you could see in my previous story, we also went to a soccer match. Sorry for the Perth people but the match was Perth Glory against Melbourne City and we happen to be fans of the latter.

After purchasing the tickets, I was told were to find our seats....

After being settled we just had to wait for the spectacle to begin....

It was a very good match with a lot of goals, unfortunately for us, Perth won the game....

You could even buy a glass (plastic) of wine...

OK, that was the soccer!

But we also enjoyed the meals we got with the Groupon vouchers we have been given at Christmas by Delia, Peter and Maxine....

The first;  Lunch at "Fusion on Swan" Swan Valley

It was lovely....

Second: Take away lunch, fish & chips at "The Chippery & Co", Northbridge
Very good, just too much for us....

Third; Breakfast at "Mr. Walker", South Perth on the Jetty
Fantastic!!

Forth; Japanese dinner with wine at Restaurant "1903", Northbridge
Delicious!

That was the eating part!

Besides all that eating, I also did some work on the beach;

Trying to find coins or jewellery.....

but only found loads of beer can clips as well as the cans itself....

More work has been done....

Here you can see a gap from the kitchen to the other part of the house. That means a waste of warmth in winter and cool air in summer, so the owner wanted a sliding door there....

So a frame had to be made as the gap was nearly to the ceiling and after that a sliding door had to be mounted....

Result;

That wasn't the only gap, also in the hallway was a gap to a living room, so work had to be done;

You can see this gap was even bigger and totally to the ceiling and because the walls had a ceiling cornice, this had to be continued too.

It was a hell of a job as the walls were skewed at places and it costed Fred a few years of his life but.......THE RESULT;

I think the owner is happy with it!

So, that was totally different wasn't it??

OK Guys, as soon as the rain stops I'll go out there digging for gold!

Till then, stay safe!

Cheers!
