Flinders Chase

There is something about this Island. We are here now 3 1/2 month and we liked it very much. We didn't think we could stay that long but yeh, we did! I think life here is still the way it was when I came the first time for holidays to Australia in 1980. Everything was so easy and relaxed you really felt save. "Save" , I'm of course talking about crime, on the other hand creeping crawlers, snakes and other dangerous creatures were more in those days.  That safety feeling then, that's how it should be all over the whole world. Pity that that is just an illusion these days. Here, on this island that feeling still exists!

We are leaving on Wednesday and we will miss it, especially this spot, the farm, the animals, David, Lorraine and the kids. Never a dull moment here! Well, on all nice things comes an end, anyhow we will be going on with our adventures.

OK, now that that's been said, let's go further with exploring the island: today I'm having Flinders Chase national park for you, which is situated on the other end of the Island. We went to the southern part.

After we parked the car at the visitor centre and paid the entry fee, we did the Platypus Waterholes walk. Unfortunately we didn't see any platypus except for this bronze one.
But the walk was very nice.

I like these Yukka's

the water was very low so I think that's the reason we didn't see any Platypus

They also seem to be very shy and have a good hearing, so if they hear you coming, they hide.

During the walk you pass this outlook....

After the walk we went to Cape Du Couedic where you can find the "Admirals Arch"..

High on the cliffs you have a terrific view over the Southern Ocean and when you look down, you can see its packed with Sea Lions dosing in the sun on the rocks....

or playing in the water.....

We took our chairs out of the car and had lunch here right on this spot!!

It wouldn't be Australia if they didn't build a boardwalk down to the "Admirals Arch"...

This is the "Admirals Arch"

Again a few lasy Sea Lions....

From the Admirals Arch we drove to the Remarkable Rocks.....

and again, via a boardwalk we got to the rocks......

and remarkable they are......

Leave it Fred, its too heavy!

And what did you think about the remarkable rocks? Remarkable hey??

So we are leaving on Wednesday and My God people you know me in the mean time, tears will be running so David and Lorraine, you are warned !
Does anyone has a solution? Should Fred give me a knock over the head so I will be unconscious at least till we are on the Ferry?

Pfff, I'll let you know how it went, for now;

Cheers!
