HELLO!! Its me!!! I'm Back!!

G'day fans!! I didn't loose you did I??

Sorry for being away so long. On one hand it was quite nice to have some weeks off but on the other hand I discovered that I'm addicted to my blog and that costed me money again. The reason I was away so long is, as you already knew, we are in the middle of the Gold fields trying to get rich which of course in an illusion but still......

Our provider doesn't provide reception all the way till Geraldton, the first stop when we get out of the Goldfields which will be around 2 1/2 weeks. I couldn't wait that long so we bought a prepaid sim card at another provider, the biggest and best but also the MOST expensive provider in Australia. So.... here I am!!

I can't give you our Gold digging adventures yet, though I am anxious to share them with you, as I'm still not ready with the period previous to our Gold adventures.

Lets go back to Mai;

Dunsborough in the Margaret River Region

As I said, between the two house sittings we have been to Dunsborough thanks to the people of our first House Sitting with whom we became good friends.

We have been 6 days in Dunsborough which lies in the Margaret River Region. Margaret River is a town in the South West of Western Australia, located in the valley of the eponymous Margaret River, 277 kilometres (172 mi) south of Perth, the state capital. Its Local Government Area is the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.

From Dunsborough which lies North of Margaret River we did some nice trips as f.i. Cape Naturaliste and on our way to there we first stopped at Meelup beach;

and then at Eagle Bay.....

When we came at Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, we suddenly remembered it, we had been there also in 2005 so 10 years ago!

still nice to do that walk again......

Margaret River is the foremost Geographical Indication wine region in the South West Australia Zone, with nearly 55 square kilometres (21 sq mi) under vine and over 138 wineries as at 2008. So of course we passed a lot wineries....

Approx. 12 k's north of Margaret River is a small town named Cowaramup, The name is believed to be derived from Aboriginal word Cowara, meaning Purple-crowned Lorikeet. Locals from the region often refer to the town as "Cowtown", a reference to the use of "cow" in the town's name and its history of dairy farming.

In 2012 the town installed 42 lifesize fibreglass cow sculptures around the town, as a tourist attraction.

Several hundred caves are located near Margaret River, all of them within Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. Six of these are open to the public.

This is The Lake Cave events deck and is a relatively new addition to the cave site; Stunning views and a licensed to hold over 150 people.

Also here we remembered we have been here and actually did that Lake Cave tour though Fred doesn't like caves.
The tour price was too expensive for us and we have seen it before so we decided not to go. I can recall though that it was very nice and certainly worth to do the tour.

So we just looked down on the 300 steps you have to go down for the cave, from the events deck.

The Deck has 3 holes with glass where you can peep through down on the tall Karri Trees and the caves mouth....

Lunch at Margaret River Mouth...

From Dunsborough we also did a great walk, it's called the Meelup trail but we didn't walked it all the way to Meelup beach but till Caste Rock Beach....

Castle Rock....

the way back to Dunsborough

And we did a trip to the Canal Rocks....

great board walks issued by the Government....

We also did a bike ride along the coast towards Busselton but not all the way to Busselton as that was too far. We ended up having our lunch on the shore.....

Beautiful, gracious creatures these Stingray's, but also the killers of the unlucky Steve Irwin......

Hope you enjoyed this story again and I hope you are glad I'm back as otherwise I paid a lot of money for nothing, haha!!

See you soon!

Cheers

  2. Lieverdjes, complimenten weer voor de plaatjes, ook van Willemien! Sommige namen kwamen me inderdaad bekend voor. Klopt dus dat jullie er eerder waren. De meisjes van de IJsselkade kijken weer uit naar de volgende avonturen en bijbehorende foto's met, zoals Dan zegt, een groot Wow! gehalte xxxx
