Go and sit down, here comes a big one;
On the second of April we arrived in Fremantle and immediately after having settled we walked via the beach to Fremantle.
arriving in Fremantle, we took the free bus for about two k's, we arrived on the Esplanade and found out that its very nice there!!
Lot of ships though this is not the main Port...
Restaurants, especially with fresh seafood....
and then we discovered Little Creatures......
Which is a Brewery and of course with beers which has to be tested....
Set on the waterfront at Fishing Boat Harbour, and in an old warehouse that was previously a crocodile farm, Little Creatures brews a variety of award winning craft beers and ales on-site.....
Approved!
On our way back we went passed a hotel and saw these trees next to the balconies, just wondered how they got it there!
We going to have a party soon, but before we go partying, first some impressions of Fremantle! We love Fremantle, it is such an easygoing little city with a rich history.
It was a key home base for Allied naval ships during World War II. After the war, Fremantle was first port of call for thousands of immigrants from war-torn Europe. Many stayed to build new lives in Western Australia.
Fremantle's impressive suite of late Victorian and early Edwardian buildings date from the late 1800's.
We have a great weekend coming as Friday the third is Good Friday but also Fred's birthday and so its double celebration we thought, but actually it didn't work out well in the beginning as of course we wanted to go out for a birthday dinner but because it was Good Friday, there were a lot restrictions.
First of all a lot of Restaurants were closed and then others were very expensive and even had a 10% on top of their prices because of Good Friday. Sheila and I spent hours Googleling.....
But first, Yeeehh! Happy Birthday wishes and presents;
(he got an E-reader and sleep-cover for the E-reader)
Birthday Brekkie;
and of course the E-reader had to be installed....
After success of the instalment, we packed our good moods together and went to Town for celebrations....
Movie time;
And because it was also Good Friday, a lot of people were celebrating too, f.i. with BBQ's in the parks etc. ...
just a loo with a great painting....
During our walk, a few family members called Fred for his birthday...
Then we went to the Fremantle Markets, one of the city’s most iconic and visited places. Located at the southern end of the Cappuccino Strip and housed in a grand Victorian-era heritage building that was constructed in 1902 and completely restored in 1975....
(sorry, the indoor pictures are not that clear)
Movie Time;
Then when we wanted to have a drink somewhere we were told we had to order a main meal with it, somewhere halfway the afternoon!! They weren't kidding, first we thought that was the policy of that particular bar that when we tried at Little Creatures we heard the same so we ordered chips haha wasn't a real meal but who cares, we had something to eat on our table.
It really is the Governments law.
Movie time;
Movie time;
We went back to the caravan park, satisfied and a bit drowsy....
At night we took the bus to the centre;
Because we couldn't find a suitable Restaurant for our needs, we decided to go back to Little Creatures and order a few different things which we would share and we had a great evening.....
As you can see we have one of their pizza's .....
After a fun night we managed to catch the bus back for a nice sleep.....
There must have been more people who had a fun night, wonder if they got home without slippers... |
Because this was the Eastern Weekend, there also were a lot festivities in Fremantle so on Saturday we went back again to participate the celebrations....
A picture with bottles in stead of real ones....
With satisfaction written all over his face we had our last beer in Fremantle and when we came home we were surprised with this lovely sunset.....
On the 5th of April, first Eastern day, we had to go back to Perth.
Thanks Fremantle, we had a lovely time!
Cheers!
