As you know our visitors are back to Holland and now we are driving like crazy to get to cooler weather which seems to be in Queensland, but of course that story comes later.
First we continue with the Northern Territory and the adventures we had with our son and his girlfriend. As I already told you their names it is now easier for me to call them visitors. So lets start!
On 29 September, at 5 o'clock in the morning they arrived on Darwin airport, there are no big international planes coming in Darwin so they flew from Singapore with Jetstar. We wondered if we were right and if we did have the time right because we were the only two people there.
Normally we advise people who arrive in Australia for holidays to stay awake till the evening and go to bed early, the best way to cope with Jet-lag, but in this case it's hardly human to ask that as that would be a very long time. After hugging and kissing, we drove to the caravan park and we prepared some pies for breakfast. We had to be quiet because most people were still asleep.
After breakfast we did some shopping and then went to Howard Springs Reserve for lunch. Of course with bubbles!!
Still awake! |
Back in the caravan park I went for a swim and Danny and Patricia decided to have a power nap at the swimming pool and that helped.
On Wednesday Danny and Fred went to the Military Museum and Danny promised me to write a small story about it so I can put that at the pictures Fred made.
Here is Danny's contribution; Quote
Museum at Darwin, is about the bombing of Darwin in WW2 and the impact of Australia' s part about the war in Vietnam.
One hall is about the time before the bombing of Darwin and the wild, but romantic life of the town and the bombing itself.
Also the museum got some small halls about uniforms, weapons and other pieces collected from both wars....
The museum also shows pieces of different artillery outside and a big gun emplacement towards the see.
Some magic....
The museum shows respect to the fallen.
Lest we forget!

Thanks Danny and Fred for this contribution to by blog...
We girlie's didn't go, we're not really interested in WWII. So we discovered a bit of the centre of Darwin. We did some shopping for lunch and as soon as the boys were ready we would pick them up and have lunch near the ocean.
We had some rolls, ham, cheese, tomatoes and 2 cartons with juice, some passion fruit and mango. After we poured the glasses and took a zip, we all made funny faces, the stuff was terrible sweet but we finished it anyhow. We hoped the other carton would be better but it was even worse. When we investigated the content written on the carton we found out it was a concentrated juice and you had to add 2 litres of water to get the right juice.
Gee we had a laugh and we were all waiting for a stomach ache to come haha.
Because we are going to Kakadu and Litchfield for 2 1/2 weeks we had to do some shopping because there is not much in between, so that's what we did on Thursday.
In the afternoon we went to the Mindil beach sunset market which was very nice, just missed the sunset because of a cloudy sky. The market is huge and you can shop till you drop and eat what you want, you can get all sorts of food, actually food is the main thing!
But we had lovely Fish and Chips and Danny bought himself a hat, very nice one and it suits him well.
OK guys, we are heading to Kakadu, that's the next story, but before we left the caravan park we saw this in the amenity blocks;
Or did one of the men brag? |
Can you imagine we were very well awake at once!!!
Keep save! Till next time
Cheers.
Yeah!! We're part of this blog again!! :)
