Just a short one, our first day!

G'day Mates!

You can imagine, our daughter Sheila is back to The Netherlands, our house is empty and quiet so, yesterday we could take our mind of the emptiness by working in the garden and today we're going to Perth city, plunging ourselves into the crowd. Tonight we will settle ourselves in front of the TV with a drink and watch some things we taped from the Dutch television station BVN from the last 2 weeks.

Fortunately we can look forward to our Son coming in 2 weeks so our program will start all over again!

Anyway, just not to loose by dearest fans, I planned just a short story of our first day together so you will have something to read in the weekend ....

It looks like I always have trouble taking action pictures at the Airport of the one who's coming to visit us. I'm standing there for about an hour, in front of the doors with my camera ready to shoot, watching hundreds of people I don't know coming through those doors, when suddenly its Sheila coming through the door at the same time my camera decides to quit and automatically shuts down. Bugger!

Well at least I have patient Hubby waiting for his daughter and the proof of us being at the Airport;

At the car park, all very happy....

Tradition is Champagne breakfast or lunch, depends on the time of arriving. Sheila arrived at night so after a good night sleep we had our tradition next day, at the beach of Kwinana...

It was a bit windy but lovely!!

This first day is sealed with a kiss........

I told you it would be a short one, there is lots more to come so keep looking.....

Cheers!

Cottesloe - Sculpture by the Sea

G'day Mates,

Ain't I back quick hey??  Well actually this has to do with the meaning of the title. At the moment there is an exhibition of art/sculptures on the beautiful beach of Cottesloe, one of Perth beaches, and it ends on the 20 th so that's very tight now.

We have been there a few days ago and I think it is worthwhile a visit so I wanted to share it as soon as possible, especially for the people close to Perth, there is still the Sunday to go.

I show you a few pictures first......

 and the rest, of course the most beautiful ones, I put into a compilation and of most of the sculptures I also mention the name of the artist, unfortunately I couldn't find them all.

 Accompanied with some music I hope you will enjoy it;

Aaaahhh stopp!! One more thing to say; on some pictures you will see (or already saw) two yellow beach chairs in the background, that's not a sculpture; that's Fred sitting there, my chair is empty of course ...

Movie Time, please don't skip the movie....

beautiful hey??

Well mates, that's it for now. I don't know when I'll be back as Thursday our daughter is coming for a two weeks holiday so I won't be having much time, but.... on the other hand I might be digging up some new adventures to tell, so keep on looking on my blog....

Cheers for now.

Beach, beach, beach

G'day Mates!

You guessed already! Today my blog is all about the beaches of Rockingham. From our house sitting address we are only 9 k's from the nearest beach which is Kwinana beach but most of the time we go to the Rockingham beaches as there are a bit more facilities. Rockingham has over 40 k's of magnificent open water to explore with scuba diving or snorkeling for all ages and levels of ability.

Anyhow, due to the fact that the sun is shining most every day, you can find a lot on the beaches. Curious? OK, come along and join us.....

Yeeeeh!! Dolphins are regular visitors....

Movie time:

from our lazy beach-chair there is always a lot to see....

especially when someone gets lessons and you see them struggle........

Not only lessons but there also has been competitions, suddenly we heard languages from all over the world on the beach...

The practice will be in one of my future stories....

Here is our accommodation on the beach....

and no....., we're not only looking at activities of other people, we're, (well I am), swimming too.

I must admit a bit mindful as sharks are spotted sometimes and as you could see, dolphins are also regular visitors and I'm not sure I can see the difference from a distance....

Movie time;

Talking about snorkeling; I went in with my snorkel once, brrr as soon as I saw something moving I nearly wanted to scream my head off which is very difficult with that thing in your mouth and knowing I could face a shark, sorry, that was an one-off!

More activities....

Watching skydivers coming down, hoping they don't land on our head....

or checking google or the news....

or watch big ships leave which just have been loaded with grain....

or...........just relax.......

and watch the world goes by........

Cheers!

Thermomix

G'day Mates!

Hope you all are fine?? Strange title hey! Ever heard of a Thermomix? Let me explain....

The owners of our previous house sitting address (our lovely friends we had Christmas with) also have one and she (Delia) told me to use it the few weeks we were taking care of their little doggies but I didn't dare to touch it, it looks like something out of a science fiction film and it scared me off.

In the house we now are is also one, an older model but who cares, Delia sort of forced me to use it and I think I'm now hooked on it.  I know I'm in trouble when we are leaving this house to travel again, can't do without it anymore but it's too big and expensive to buy one myself.

OK, enough talking, let me show you the monster first;

Well?? What do you think? Scary hey?

But it is soo simple and easy, you really can do everything with it. It does general cooking, chopping, crushing, grating, kneading, steaming, etc etc

There are cooking books with thousands of recipes for it and it tells you what to do step by step, here is an example;

I hope you can read it, this is the result;

Of course the bread itself has to go into the oven but mixing the ingredients and kneading the dough is being done in the thermomix and how easy is that!

More lovely things I made;

Haha, this was my first trial, oeps not all good but......

Because I really feel as I could participate on My Kitchen Rules with this machine I thought;  "what the hell, lets go big....

Pizza dough.......

self made Pizza's are the BEST....

For the next bread, Focaccia, the dough has to rise, of course at a warm spot and because when it's so hot outside and we have the air condition on it's not easy inside, suddenly I had an eureka moment; "our caravan";

Nice and warm in the sun, inside it can be as warm as 35/40 degrees, it works perfect;

The dough is very sticky... (haha, I even had it stuck on my shirt)

Result;

Together with the Focaccia; Lovely!

With this one I was a bit stupid not to wear a mask as I nearly choked....

And my own Pesto;

Even made a zucchini bread (the front one);

I could go on for ever guys but it's enough for now.

Anyway I know one thing for sure; when I ever, ever get my own kitchen again, where ever in the world this may be, I'll buy this magnificent kitchen gadget, Fair Dinkum!!
(I'll start saving now)

Cheers!
