Bali, second half of tour

G'day mates,

I hope you liked the first story about Bali, here comes the second part of that tour which I think, you will find interesting.

After the temple we drove further through the countryside towards the Coffee plantation, here we have tried several sorts of coffee and also a very special one......

This is the special coffee, just read it and then you can understand that we were a bit reluctant to try it but we did......

Here you can see how they prepare it and we found it very special and NICE indeed!!

Movie time;

After this coffee adventure we went to Mount Batur, a semi active volcano, but first enjoy a bit of the Bali countryside;

Movie time;

Here we had a lovely lunch with a breathtaking view of the Batur Volcano and the Batur Lake in which there also seem to be Hot Springs.

On our way back we passed Tegalalang, a beautiful area with rice paddies...

Isn't it just beautiful!!

Guess what????

This is my 100 Th story!! That's worth a treat isn't it??
Because you, my readers, are all over the world and that too much an organisation to get some bubbles at you, I will give you an extra nice movie to celebrate this special occasion;

Bali is still not finished yet, so see ya next time, again in Bali!

Cheers!

Bali, Sanur

G'day Mates,

Lets make of 2015 a good and healthy year so first of all I and my husband Fred, wish you all a very happy but most important, a healthy New Year.

Around us, amongst family, friends, acquaintances and neighbours we have been confronted with terrible diseases especially cancer and some will/did survive, others didn't/won't. But let us always try to be optimistic and positive and hope for the miracle to come. At once stage that terrible illness will be beaten and will only be a disease that passes. Lets hope that moment will be coming very soon.

But we also have to keep living so, here we go again! Lets go to Bali;

Well, we are back from Bali and I can tell you, it's quite different then Australia. But not the weather, you can compare that with Queensland in summer and Gee, we had some serious rain too!

We started at Sanur, a lovely place on the beach approx. 30 k's from Denpasar and the airport. The trip with the taxi to our Bed & Breakfast called Tari, was Rp. 150.000 which is approx. $ 15.00.

Our view from our balcony....

I wouldn't dare to stand on this ladder....(have a good look)

 Sanur is very busy but it is not annoying as when you are on the beach, there is a nice path along with little shops and restaurants and no traffic except for some bikes.

Cheers!

funny boats....

A Merry Christmas, bottle tree!

The Main Street of Sanur is very busy but there you also can find good restaurants and shops! We had a good time in Sanur especially because we had a good home. The Tari family were very nice, good room and a suburb breakfast with lots of fresh fruit.

We arrived on the 12th and the 13 th was our anniversary. Of course we went for a nice lunch on the beach.....

 and at night we had a great meal at Restaurant Costa Rica....

Lovely Balinese food.....

later an Irish coffee at the Irish Restaurant/pub.....

and when we came home, we found this on our table on our balcony!!

OK, lets stop the eating stuff, I'm getting hungry, OK OK, just one more;

In our younger days we have eaten from stalls like this but now we're a little older, you have to be more careful. Nevertheless, round the corner of our B&B there was a market where we have been eating from such stalls the first day, there were mostly only locals and we had a very tasteful meal, very spicy too but we like that, and we didn't get sick at all!!

just some pictures of Sanur;

A wall of coral.....
(I hope they got it off the beach and didn't take it out of the sea)

here you can see the path along the beach....

little shops......

two fishermen.....

Father Tari; Elly, is also a tour guide and his little business is named "Bali secret tour". Unfortunately he hasn't got a website yet otherwise I would have mentioned it. But if you stay at their Bed & Breakfast he will immediately tell you where he can take you for a tour. We also did a tour with him so come with us and enjoy.....

First we drove from Sanur through some little villages and passed Ubud to Tegenungan Village where we visited a beautiful Watersfall...

During the trip we regularly stopped to see some nice, beautiful or strange things, like this tree.
Elly told us that the tree walks. The roots you see hanging down, dig into the ground to become a new tree other parts die and so the tree changes place a bit. It takes of course hundreds of years to see the tree has "walked" a step haha.

Cruising our way through the country side....

its movie time;

Then we drove to the Temple; Tirtha Empul, which is built around the Holy Geyser of Tampaksiring.

Movie time;

Here in the front you can see the geyser, it was boiling ......

Women in Indonesia put everything on their head, in some of the next Bali stories you can see that they also can carry extreme weights on their heads, its amazing!

Big hey Fred!! It's Jackfruit!
 The jackfruit tree is well suited to tropical lowlands, and its fruit is the largest tree-borne fruit, reaching as much as 80 pounds (36 kg) in weight, 36 inches (90 cm) in length, and 20 inches (50 cm) in diameter.

I liked it!

Right, we are not finished yet with this day tour but this story will be too long so I finish it now.  Next time we go further and then you will learn all about some very special coffee!!

See you then!
Cheers!

A special edition, Merry Christmas!

G day mates,

As you know we are in Bali at the moment and I realised that I forgot to tell you why we are here; on the 13th of December we had our 30st wedding anniversary, nowadays worth celebrating!! Isn't it??

But now something else; it's very weird from this location, in this Bali heat to introduce you to next issue but, picture this;

I found a movie back, which I made long time ago, on one of our DVD's. I've been struggling to get it on the computer and then to YouTube because I think it's worth sharing with you, especially for people who know Holland and also because of the winter time in Holland and festive season.

This was our last winter in the Netherlands, 7 years ago. We were going to emigrate to Australia and I wanted to remember how cold the winters could be in Holland because that was one of the reasons we wanted to emigrate. But actually the beauty came over me as a warm feeling and so I didn't feel any cold when I walked from Steenderen, were we lived then, to Brummen on the other side of the IJssel. Approximately 6 kilometre in this icy, snowy, cold weather, but I loved every inch of it!!

Welcome to the Winter Wonderland;

Well I hope you found it as much as pretty as I did and still do.

From Bali we wish you;

See ya next year with the first story of the year; Bali!

Cheers!
(don't drink too much)

Never a dull moment

G'day Mates,

Sorry it took a while before I came back, the problem was and still is a bit, I wasn't too well (had a bad cold) and felt miserable for more then a week so had no mood to do anything. That also resulted in having no exciting new story, also because I didn't made much pictures.

BUT, you know me, I can always pull out something;

I told you we (actually Fred) were busy preparing for the big trip and before my cold I made a few pictures of that;

Here we brought our little house on wheels to the Simpsons boys (a good caravan repairer) in Dandenong....

and left it there.......

they put in a second battery under my seat so now we should have enough power to stay somewhere, f.i. in the bush or free camping, for a few days....

because of that second battery, we lost a lot space under my seat for storing so we have to find that elsewhere, most probably under the bed....

Not that this was all under that seat haha!
No, we had to unpack the caravan so Fred has enough space to fiddle around......

(sorry Lida about the mess, but no worries, it will be all gone before you come home!)

also in the caravan there is a mess......

BUT "we" will get there.......

In the mean time, when Fred is working hard, I'm still trying to get off the kilo's I gained during our holidays to Holland and I can tell you, it doesn't work, isn't it sad?

OK guys, you must be wondering why I called this story; "Never a dull moment"??

I tell you why;

Friday the 12th, WE WILL FLY TO BALI, YEEEEHH!!

So, plans has changed again, not the West YET, see ya in Bali!

Cheers!
