Camping life with ups and downs

G'day Mates,

Today I'm going to show you a bit of our camping life (still in Holland) which is in this case special because we camp at a farm, for The Netherlands quite normal but not for a lot of other countries. A lot farmers have some extra space and they created a small caravan park on it, they call it "Kamperen bij de boer"; Camp at the Farm.

When we arrived at the caravan park we noticed it had been so wet, we could hardly get the caravan within it's space, we had to pull and push with a few tough men and finally, unfortunately with damaging the grass, we got it on its spot.

Pff enough done for today, the rest will be done within a few days, we were staying with my sister so we had time enough.

Once set up we could enjoy the typical view of a farm caravan park.....

The day we collected our caravan at another farm, where we stall it, we noticed that the tyres were very bad, there were cracks everywhere but we decided to keep on going, we only had 15 k's to go, and to replace the tyres during our stay.

An so, one day we did.....

Normally I'm not scared so quick but because the annex was mounted on the other side, the caravan started to move a bit and I nearly got a hart attack so my hubby and uncle weren't allowed to even look at the other tyre, let alone replace it!!

We decided to replace the other side the day we would leave and bring back the caravan to its winter home again. And that's how it has been done!

Of course a lot people wanted to visit us and because we're not that rich (haha) to feed every one, these lovely friends brought there own food, its like BYO in Australia (meaning; Bring Your Own, in most cases it's the wine) but in this case it was food instead of booze, as of the latter we always have enough AND it's cheap in The Netherlands.

The meat and fish were excellent!!

In between there is always time to have some fun with fellow campers...

We had pinched the picnic table from the other field so we had to bring it back....

To my opinion we have seen such skies too often, we have been flooded three times and I was so sick and tired of it, I even didn't bother to lay back the rugs the last few weeks.....

That same neighbour you saw 3 pictures back, had sold her caravan as she didn't want to camp anymore but she also had to get rid of all the stuff in it so on a Sunday morning she had a sort of "garage sale"......

Gee did we had some laughs....

I bought 4 nice cups....

Just a nice meal;

And sometimes it was bloody cold;

Camping life also means fruit-flies in your wine....

Mind ya, we also had some nice weather....

Because it's beginning to look like Food Life in stead of Camping Life, I'll now show you a little movie about farmers at work, it might sets your mind off the food for a while......

Movie time;

You can also hire a mobile home at the caravan park, they have two for hire, a small one for 2 people and a bigger one for 4 people, sometimes our family hires one to stay a few days with us.

And everyone loves the cows!

Who is the prettiest??

Every morning the Baker comes with fresh bread, the only thing was that you couldn't sleep in as they drove loud hooting into the park at nine o'clock!

All the difference of the world when the sun is shining!!

Camping also means our Grand Children will be coming for a few days...

Gee these cows get some attention from our visitors;

Opa gets cooking lessons from the two youngest....

With the oldest and my sister, I went to The World Press Photo which was held in the Walburgis Church in Zutphen, a great initiative as it was very interesting!

Afterwards we ate at my sister's (and her doggie)....

The last few days we tried to empty a few bottles haha! No troubles at all!!

That I now mention the last few days doesn't mean I'm finished with the stories of our holiday in The Netherlands, there are still a few to come!

In the mean time we are in Perth and I will have some more time coming up so it won't be too long this time.
See you soon!

Cheers

Beautiful Holland brings back memories

G'day Mates,

We have done some walking and biking in Holland, so now I want to show you some nice pictures of these moments.

Besides the pictures I show on the blog I also made a small movie in which you can see even nicer pictures so I hope you enjoy yourselves;

OK lets go...........

This is in the surrounding of Vorden.....

Here we are near Warnsveld at the so called; "Huis 't Velde"

This is near our caravan park.....
(Of course it has been raining)

On the other side of the IJssel opposite Zutphen lies De Hoven and Tonden......

and Empe......

Here they are creating a new straw roof; "Thatching" , Thatching methods have traditionally been passed down from generation to generation, and numerous descriptions of the materials and methods used in Europe over the past three centuries.

this is near Voorst.....

I'm biking over the dike from Voorst to De Hoven.....
(I have lived in De Hoven for several years with my parents)

On the other side lies Zutphen, you can see the water in the IJssel is very high.....

This is and old laundry house which was totally neglected a few years ago, they did it all up and looks beautiful now....

Biking over the bridge you can see how far the water reaches....

Of course in such situation the bridge has to be opened for ships to pass and the traffic has to wait...

At one stage I walked from the "Kapperallee", people living in Zutphen know were it is, to the IJsselkade where my sister lives and I passed so many places which brought back a lot of memories I want to share a few....

Crikey, didn't know you could prospect here, I asked what they were looking for (as I know it can't be gold) and they mentioned; coins but also ancient coins and WWII stuff....

Here I start walking along "De Berkel", a stream which meanders gently through Zutphen....

This is the Ice-rink where I used to go skating with school as well as with my friends, I'm not sure if its still in operation during the winter....

Left, "De Berkel" again, on the right the Ice-rink

Totally overgrown you see here my former dentist, a little to the left you see grey small part of a window, behind that window was the chair so when you were lying there with your mouth open, you could look outside to "De Berkel".

Nowadays they have a telly on the ceiling haha!

This is the front of the house, Gee was I nervous when I had to go there!!
Maybe some of my blog readers from Zutphen will recognise this....

Shocking isn't it to end the story with the dentist??  Brrrr.

Well, get your mind off the dentist and enjoy this little movie

Movie time!!

As I'm writing this we are back in Australia already for a few weeks and at the moment we are in Bendigo, looking after some horses and chooks. Our caravan was stalled here during our holidays in The Netherlands and we are preparing it now to go to the West.

Thursday the 6th of October we are leaving here and we have 10 days to get to Perth which is 3250 k's away, so you can understand I'm out of the air for a while.

But when we are save in Perth, I'll be back as soon as possible, till then!

Cheers!
